Mr. Onyewu’s successful soccer career has allowed him the opportunity to live in several countries, and he has continuously seen a need for youth health and wellness education. Recognizing that developing healthy habits at a young age can help ensure healthy behaviors in adulthood, Onyewu established G.O. Global, Inc. in the Washington, DC metropolitan area where he grew up. He is now committed to addressing the global need for health promotion among young people in the U.S. and abroad.
Dr. Onyewu is a health scientist whose work has focused on promoting cardiovascular health among adolescents and young adults. She completed a 2-year AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowship with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in Bethesda, MD where she supported efforts to develop evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for the treatment of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and obesity. She was also a National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) Translational Health Disparities Course Scholar. Dr. Onyewu was previously the Study Director for a health disparities research study at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. In 2009, she served as Co-Chair of the Medical and Health Stakeholders group for the Washington, DC Department of Health Overweight & Obesity Action Plan. She obtained her medical degree and doctoral degree in Pharmacology from Duke University in Durham, NC.
Litonya Livingston is a health educator with over 7 years of experience in health and wellness promotion. She is a Certified Worksite Wellness Specialist (CWWS) and the founder and CEO of Health Industry Solutions (HIS). She educates her clients on ways to improve their well-being through enhancement of their mental, nutritional and physical health. Ms. Livingston has expertise in designing, implementing, and evaluating interventions aimed at controlling and preventing at-risk health behaviors. She obtained her master’s degrees in Health Education and Health Promotion from Howard University in Washington, DC and her wellness certification from the National Wellness Institute in Stevens Point, WI.
Tanaz Shahlavi has over 15 years of sales and management experience with numerous corporate entities. She served as the Director of Event Planning and Community Service Liaison for the largest evening entertainment venue in Washington, DC, where she was responsible for creative development, client procurement, and coordination of information exchange with local and national newspaper, radio, and television media outlets. Ms. Shahlavi has a passion for serving others and an eagerness to help young people transfer lessons learned through athletics and fitness to their everyday lives. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.
